A Low-Energy Vacuum Distillation Approach for Clean Water Production

Abstract

Water scarcity poses an increasing threat to global populations, particularly in arid regions. Conventional desalination methods often require significant energy inputs and advanced infrastructure, making them unsustainable for widespread adoption. This paper proposes a novel, low-energy vacuum distillation technique powered by renewable sources (solar or animal kinetic energy) that transforms impure water—such as seawater or river runoff—into potable water using minimal resources.

Theory of Operation
